Anna Gunn & Jacki Weaver Join Fox's 'Broadchurch' Adaptation 'Gracepoint' – TVWise

Anna Gunn (Breaking Bad) and Oscar nominee Jacki Weaver (Silver Linings Playbook) have joined the cast of Fox upcoming limited event series Gracepoint, which is an adaptation of the his British series Broadchurch. The join previously announced main cast member David Tennant (Doctor Who), who also stars in the original British series.
Anna Gunn, arguably best known for her role as Skyler White and AMC’s Breaking Bad, has been cast as Detective Ellie Miller, the partner of Detective Emmett Carver (David Tennant) who is also assigned to the murder investigation; while Jackie Weaver has been cast as Susan Wright, a glowering, mysterious woman who is new to town and lives in the RV park, alone with her dog. She works various cleaning and odd jobs and prefers to remain anonymous, but has a dark history kept fiercely hidden.
Set in an American town, Gracepoint follows the tragic and mysterious death of a young boy found dead on an idyllic beach surrounded by rocks and a jutting cliff-face, from where he may have fallen. Although the cause of his death remains unsolved, the picturesque seaside town where the tragedy occurred is at the heart of a major police investigation and a nationwide media frenzy. Kudos Film & TV and sister company Shine America are producing, with Carolyn Bernstein and Jane Featherstone serving as executive producers. Chris Chibnall, who created the original series, will also executive produce and pen the premiere episode. Anya Epstein and Dan Futterman are on-board as executive producers/showrunners. British helmer James Strong, who is currently working on BBC One’s From There To Here and directed ITV’s Broadchurch, is attached to direct. Shine International is handling global distribution.
