UKTV Launches 'You, Me & Them' Infographic Microsite – TVWise

UKTV is getting in on second screen. To mark the launch of Gold’s first original sitcom You, Me & Them – which is set to premiere tonight at 9pm – the company has launched its first dynamic infographic microsite.
Created by Steve Turner, You, Me and Them tells the story of Ed (Anthony Head) and Lauren (Eve Myles) who are madly in love, despite their 20 plus-year age gap. The only problem is that Lauren’s family and everyone around them seems to have an opinion on the subject. Ed’s ex-wife Lydia rents the house opposite the couple, Lauren’s family are constantly meddling and Ed’s friends think she’s a trophy girlfriend. You can choose your partner but you can’t choose your family. Lindsay Duncan, Susie Blake, Alice Felgate, Miller Henderson, Nigel Betts, Joshua McGuire, Marcus Garvey, Daisy Beaumont and Jeff Rawle also star. You, Me & Them was produced by Hat Trick Productions and directed by Simon Hynd.
The microsite – which was uniquely designed for Gold by Initials Marketing- presents facts, figures and surprising insights into twenty-first century family life in the UK using data submitted by viewers and provides an innovative platform for viewers to contribute their own opinions and experiences of family life; topics which are touched up on You, Me & Them. Each week, an infographic reflecting the comedic storylines in each new episode invites the viewing community to vote in polls, as well as write their own personal anecdotes, which are moderated and posted on the site for others to browse.
“This fantastically engaging microsite uses data visualisation to present fascinating and funny facts and figures and offers viewers a second-screen experience”, said Steve Hornby, UKTV’s Head of Digital and Social Media. “The site also incorporates social sharing functions that allow users to extend the conversation to their own friends and family.”
While General Manager of Gold, Steve North added: “As each episode brings to light comical family scenarios many of us can relate to, from dinner disasters to dealing with in-laws from hell, this dynamic site invites viewers to join in the online conversation and compare their own experiences with others.”
