HBO has confirmed details of its Winter schedule and unveiled premiere dates for new drama series True Detective, the third season of Girls and freshman comedy series Looking.
The 8 episode first season of True Detective premieres on Sunday January 12th at 9/8c. Created by Nic Pizzolatto, True Detective follows two detectives, Rust Cohle (Matthew McConaughey) and Martin Hart (Woody Harrelson), whose lives collide and entwine during a seventeen-year hunt for a serial killer in Louisiana. The investigation of a bizarre murder in 1995 is framed and interlaced with testimony from the detectives in 2012, when the case has been reopened.
The third season of Girls premieres behind True Detective on Sunday January 12th at 10/9c with a double-bill. Created by Lena Dunham, Girls follows the day to day lives of Hannah, Marnie, Jessa and Shoshanna who are trying to figure life out. They’ve been living in New York for a couple of years, but they’re still not sure what they want – from boys, from each other, from themselves. And things aren’t getting any clearer. The comedy series stars Lena Dunham, Jemima Kirke, Allison Williams, Zosia Mamet and Adam Driver.
Finally, HBO’s newest comedy series Looking kicks off on Sunday January 19th at 10:30/9:30c. Created by Michael Lannan, Looking revolves around three friends in San Francisco who explore the fun and sometimes overwhelming options available to a new generation of gay men. The comedy series stars Jonathan Groff, Frankie J. Alvarez and Murray Bartlett. While Special guest stars include Russell Tovey and Scott Bakula.
