Fox Renews 'Sleepy Hollow' For Second Season – TVWise

And the first renewal for the 2014-2015 season goes to….. Sleepy Hollow. Fox has renewed the freshman drama – which is one of the few breakout hits of this fall – for a 13 episode second season.
Written by Alex Kurtzman and Bob Orci, Sleepy Hollow is based on The Legend of the Sleepy Hollow and follows Ichabod Crane as he partners with Sleepy Hollow’s local female sheriff to solve the mysteries of a town ravaged by the battle between good and evil. The drama series is produced by 20th Century Fox Television & K/O Paper Products and stars Tom Mison, John Chu, Orlando Jones, Katia Winter and Nicole Beharie.
“The show has proven to be a risk well worth taking — it’s a conceptual blast unlike anything else on television and it all holds together with inventive writing and a fantastic cast,” said Kevin Reilly, Chairman of Entertainment for Fox Broadcasting Company. “I can’t wait for fans to experience what else is in store for this fall and even more of this wild ride into season two.”
The renewal comes only 3 episodes into the show’s first season and after the series has proved to be a ratings winner for Fox. Sleepy Hollow premiered to 10.1 million viewers and a 3.5 A18-49 rating, with Live+3 data raising those figures to 13.6 million viewers and a 5.0 A18-49 rating; making the series Fox’s highest rated fall drama premiere since 24 in 2001. The decision to renew Sleepy Hollow for a 13 episode second season also comes in lieu of handing the series a back nine order and is part of Fox’s stated strategy of airing more series year-round with cable-length seasons of 10-13 episodes.
