Thunderbirds are go! ITV has unveiled the voice cast for the upcoming reboot of the popular Gerry Anderson series Thunderbirds, with David Graham, who voiced Parker on the original series, set to reprise his role on this new incarnation, which is titled Thunderbrids Are Go!
In addition to Graham, the voice cast also includes Rosamund Pike (The World’s End), Kayvan Novak (Fonejacker), Thomas Brodie-Sangster (Game of Thrones), Rasmus Hardiker (Lead Balloon), David Menkin, Sandra Dickinson (Amazing World of Gumball), Andres Williams (Foyle’s War), Angel Coulby (Merlin) and Adjoa Andoh (Doctor Who).
Pike has been cast as Lady Peneolope; Novak as Brains; Brodie-Sangster as Tracy brothers Gordon and John; Hardiker as both the youngest and oldest Tracy brothers, Alan and Scott; Menkin as Virgil Tracy; Dickinson as Grandma Tracy; Williams as The Hood; Coulby as new character Kayo, the Tracy brothers’ friend and fellow island resident; and Andoh as Colonel Casey.
Thunderbrids Are Go! is a remake of the popular series from the 1960′s which followed International Rescue, a family organisation run by the Tracy’s who did what was necessary to save those in danger. The series will use a combination of CGI animation and live-action models and will pay tribute to the legacy of model locations from the classic series. The lead writer is Rob Hoegee (Ben 10). ITV Studios Global Entertainment and Pukeko Pictures are producing with world-famous Weta Workshop (The Lord of the Rings) designing the series and producing the miniatures. The executive producers are Estelle Hughes for ITV Studios, Giles Ridge for ITV Studios Global Entertainment and Richard Taylor and Andrew Smith for Pukeko Pictures. The series sirector is David Scott (LEGO Star Wars), with Theo Baynton also on-board (the WotWots) as episodic director. The series is set to air on ITV and CITV in 2015.
“Each member of the cast has brought a brilliantly fresh and unique approach to these wonderful characters”, said Executive Producer Giles Ridge. “I can’t think of anyone better than Rosamund to bring back to life the fabulous Lady Penelope and we are honoured that David Graham has joined the cast to revisit his role as Parker.”
Rosamund Pike commented: “I’m very excited to bring Lady Penelope’s wry wit and taste for adventure to a new generation. Exploring the scenes with David Graham has been an absolute delight. The scripts are very modern, very fresh and very funny. We’re all eagerly anticipating our next stint in the recording studio!”
While David Graham, who is reprising his role as Parker, added: “I am triple chuffed to be on board the new series of Thunderbirds Are Go! and reprising my role of dear old Parker with such a distinguished cast.
