Anthony Stewart Head (Buffy The Vampire Slayer), Roxanne McKee (Game of Thrones), Luke Allen-Gale (Captain America) and Shivani Ghai (The Bible) have joined the cast of Syfy’s upcoming 90 minute pilot Dominion, with production on the drama set to begin later this month in Cape Town, South Africa. They join previously announced cast members Christopher Egan (Kings), Alan Dale (24) and Tom Wisdom (Above Suspicion).
Head has been cast as David Weel, the power hungry president of the Senate of Vega (formerly Las Vegas) who is frequently at odds with General Rysen, the city’s military leader; McKee as Claire Rysen, the daughter of General Rysen and a member of the highest class in Vega’s stratified society who is the closest thing that Vega has to a princess; Allen-Gale as William Weel, who, unlike his cunning politician father David, is a man of the people and Head of the Church of the Savior and the scion of Vega’s other powerful ruling family; and Ghai as Arika, a lead diplomat sent from Helena, a mysterious and militant matriarchal society in what was once Salt Lake City, which maintains a tenuous peace with Vega.
Based on the 2010 feature film Legion, Dominion was penned by Sons of Anarchy scribe Vaun Wilmott and is set 20 years after evil angels descended from heaven to lay waste to the human souls they felt God had favored over them. Now a reluctant “savior” must arise to protect Vega, the last remaining stronghold of humanity. The savior has more to fear than just angels, as the elites of this new society conspire to gain power for themselves. The drama is being produced by Universal Cable Productions and Bold Films, with Defiance helmer Scott Stewart, who also directed the 2010 feature upon which the series is based, attached to direct. The executive producers are Wilmott, Stewart and David Lancaster.
