EXCLUSIVE: Following on from our scoop that Broadchurch director James Strong has signed on to helm BBC One’s upcoming three-part drama From There To Here, I have learned that BBC One and Kudos Film & Television have found the lead actor for their drama serial.
Multiple sources are telling me that Philip Glenister has been cast in the lead role, with production on From There To Here expected to get underway next month. Glenister is an accomplished actor who is currently appearing in the BBC One comedy series Big School. He also recently finished filming his regular role of Quinn on the final season of the Sky original drama series Mad Dogs, which is set to air on Sky1 later this year.
“I’m really excited to be involved in such a terrific new drama written by Peter Bowker. Also to be working alongside such an outstanding cast and crew. And of course to be back filming in my adopted home town of Manc”, said Philip Glenister.
Created by Peter Bowker, From There To Here is set in the aftermath of the 1996 Arndale bombing and follows a Manchester family man who is torn between the life he wants and the life he could have. This is a funny, characterful and moving drama about a man whose life is rocked to the core – a family saga which begins in Manchester in the summer of 1996, on the day when an IRA bomb exploded in the city centre. Against the feel-good backdrop of Euro 96, it maps the emotional shockwaves generated by that bomb in the lives of two parallel families from different sides of the tracks. Kudos Film & TV is producing with Derek Wax and Stephen Wright serving as executive producers.
