BBC Four Acquires UK Rights To Irish Drama Series ‘Amber’, Netflix UK Takes Streaming Rights

BBC Four has closed a deal with Content Television to acquire the exclusive first run UK broadcast rights to RTE’s drama series Amber. In addition, Netflix UK has secured the streaming rights to the series and will make Amber available to subscribers in 2014 following its initial broadcast on BBC Four.

Penned by Rob Cawley and Gary Duggan, Amber is a four part drama series which tells the story of 14-year-old Amber Bailey who fails to return home one evening. The disappearance of Amber Bailey sets off a two-year search during which time her family experience unimaginable guilt, fear, and devastating grief as they live out every parent’s worst nightmare. Each episode plays with the chronology of events and focuses on the perspective of one individual connected to the case as first Amber’s family, then friends, then complete strangers become drawn into the quest to find out what happened. The series is produced by Screenworks Production and stars Eva Birthistle (Waking The Dead), David Murray (Raw), Lauryn Canny, Levi O’Sullivan and Justine Mitchell.
