UKTV has closed a deal with Endemol Worldwide Distribution to acquire the exclusive first run UK broadcast rights to TNT’s reality series Boston’s Finest for its Watch channel, TVWise has learned.
The acquisition of the reality series, which was brokered by UKTV Acquisitions Executive Emma Sparks and Endemol Worldwide Distribution’s Sales Director for UK & Eire Gisela Asimus-Minnbergh, comes shortly after Watch also acquired the rights to Canadian drama series Saving Hope. The 8 episode first season of Boston’s Finest is set to premiere this August.
Boston’s Finest follows the actions of the entire Boston Police Department, including patrol officers, detectives, special task forces and members of the SWAT Team, the Fugitive Unit and highly decorated Gang Unit. In addition to following the officers while they are on duty, Boston’s Finest will provide a glimpse into their personal lives when they are off the clock and living in the same neighborhoods they protect each day. Viewers will also be introduced to the officers’ families, who serve as their all-important support system. Boston’s Finest not only celebrates the bravery of officers who risk their lives every day, but also showcases the heart and soul of one of the oldest and proudest police departments in the nation. The series, which was recently renewed for a second season, is produced by Jarrett Creative Group and Donnie D. Productions, with Donnie Wahlberg, Seth Jarrett and Julie Insogna-Jarrett serving as executive producers.
