Law & Order: LA alum Terrence Howard has joined the cast of Fox’s upcoming 12 episode event series Wayward Pines in a regular role, TVWise has learned.
Howard, whose previous credits include The Company You Keep and Iron Man, has been cast as local law-man Sheriff Pope, who takes offense when a federal agent shows up in town and starts giving him orders.
Howard joins the rapidly growing cast of Wayward Pines, which is one of two event series that Fox has on tap for 2014. The 12 episode skein will also star Matt Dillon (There’s Something About Mary) as lead character Ethan Burke, Melissa Leo (Homicide: Life On The Street) as Nurse Pam, Carla Gugino (Political Animals) as Kate Hewson and Toby Jones (Harry Potter) as Wayward Pines’ resident psychiatrist Dr. Jenkins.
Based on Blake Crouch’s best-selling novel Pines, Wayward Pines hails from M. Night Shyamalan and follows US Secret Service agent Ethan Burke as he arrives in the bucolic town of Wayward Pines, ID, on a mission to find two missing federal agents. But instead of answers, Ethan’s investigation only turns up more questions. What’s wrong with Wayward Pines? Each step closer to the truth takes Ethan further from the life he knew, from the husband and father he was, until he must face the terrifying reality that he may never get out of Wayward Pines alive. Based on a spec-script written by Chad Hodge, Wayward Pines is produced by FX Productions with Shyamalan, Hodge, Donald De Line and Ashwin Rajan serving as executive producers.
