EXCLUSIVE: ITV’s upcoming six episode comedy series Cabbage and Me (formerly known as Cabbage and Pat) has found another main cast member. I’ve learned that Marcus Garvey, whose previous credits include White Van Man and Broadchurch, has joined the comedy as a series regular. Exact character details are being kept under wraps, but one source tells me that Garvey plays one of “the kids who are less than impressed with Cabbage and Pat’s new zeal for life and wishes they would just grow old gracefully.”
Created by Amy Shindler and Beth Chalmers, Cabbage and Pat follows two women, one widowed and one divorced, who together find a new lust for life. The comedy series is being produced by Red Production Company. Richard Webb is serving as the producer, with Red’s Nicola Shindler executive producing. The Syndicate helmer Syd Macartney is directing the skein. ITV has yet to announce any cast members for the six episode series, which is currently in production in Manchester. However, TVWise previously broke the news that the comedy will star veteran actors Cherie Lunghi (Secret Diary Of A Call Girl) and Barbara Flynn (Cranford) as the two leads, with Diane Morgan (Him & Her) also set to appear as a series regular.
