EXCLUSIVE: Danish series Manden med de gyldne ører is getting another stab at an English language remake. I’ve learned that Channel 4 is now developing an adaptation of the Danish series about the music industry under the title The Man With The Golden Ears.
Manden med de gyldne ører is a dramedy series which originally aired on DR2 in Denmark in 2009 and follows an executive at a record company who is struggling to keep his life together. Between his struggles with his superiors, problems at home and trying to find the next big hit, he has a hard time keeping it all together. The original series ran for only 8 episodes and starred Nikolai Steen, Kaya Brüel, Frederikke Dahl Hansen, Anders Budde Christensen and Lars Ranthe
This is not the first time that an attempt has been made to make an English language adaptation of the series. Back in 2011, AMC was developing its own version of the series. Now, nearly two years after AMC passed on an adaptation of the series (also titled The Man With The Golden Ears) from Life on Mars writer Scott Rosenberg and Fox Television Studios, Rosenberg is getting a second stab at adapting the project. According to my sources Rosenberg is penning this new adaptation for Channel 4 alongside Rhashan Stone (Strike Back). Red Arrow Films has optioned the format rights to the original series and will produce this new project, with both Rosenberg and Stone serving as executive producers.
