HBO has announced that the second season of Veep will premiere on Sunday April 14 at 10/9c. With new episodes of Veep airing behind the network’s hit series Game of Thrones, HBO is no doubt hoping to boost the ratings performance of the series. Last season, Veep was paried with comedy series Girls and, despite being well received by critics, had a so-so rated first season.
Veep was created by Armando Iannucci & Simon Blackwell and follows Selina Meyer, who becomes Vice President of the United States (or Veep as the position is colloquially known) only to discover the job is nothing like she expected, but everything she was warned about. The comedy series stars Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Vice President Selina Meyer, Anna Chlumsky as Amy Brookheimer, the vice-president’s chief of staff; Tony Hale as Gary Walsh, the vice-president’s personal aide; Reid Scott as Dan Egan, the vice-president’s deputy director of communications; Timothy Simons as Jonah Ryan, the White House liaison; and Matt Walsh as Mike McLintock, the vice-president’s director of communications. Both Gary Cole and Kevin Dunn are set to make guest appearances in season 2.
