Universal Channel has announced that the last three episodes of the fifth and final season of Canadian cop drama Flashpoint will air daily in the 6pm time slot from Monday February 4th. The broadcaster had pulled the final 3 episodes last month owing to “sensitive content” in the wake of shootings at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut. Universal Channel’s parent company Universal Networks International took a similar approach with science-fiction series Haven on Syfy UK by initially pulling the final two episodes in late December due to “sensitive content” before rescheduling the final two episodes to air on Tuesday January 22nd and Tuesday January 29th at 9pm.
Created by Mark Ellis and Stephanie Morgenstern, Flashpoint follows an elite unit of the Canadian police know as the Strategic Response Unit or SRU, who take on high profile cases such as hostage situations, bomb threats and taking down heavily armed criminals. The drama stars Hugh Dillon, Amy Jo Johnson, Sergio Di Zio, David Paetkau and Enrico Colantoni. In the next new episode, titled Fit For Duty, a tragic shooting on a city ferry forces Ed to confront his deepest fears – and threatens to tear Team One apart.
