EXCLUSIVE: UKTV’s Dave channel is increasing its portfolio of first run programming as we head into 2013. My sources are telling me that the broadcaster has closed a deal with Zodiak Rights to pick up the exclusive first run UK broadcast rights to all three seasons of truTV’s reality series Lizard Lick Towing and, TVWise has learned exclusively, given a broadcast pilot order to Undercover,a new comedy series from Sacha Alexander, Simon Dean and Andy Milligan. My sources also tell me that Dave is making plans with Doug Naylor for an eleventh series of Red Dwarf, following the successful launch of Red Dwarf X earlier this year.

Lizard Lick Towing is a reality series which revolves around Ron and Amy Shirley, along with Bobby Brantley, Ron’s best buddy and recovery agent, as they perform their duties as member’s of Shirley’s towing and repossession company. The series follows them as they repossess vehicles and machinery on behalf of lien holders, a difficult and often unpleasant task, to say the least. Lizard Lick Towing is produced by Zodiak USA for Time Warner’s truTV cable network. The series has been on the air for two seasons, with a third slated to premiere in the US on truTV on January 21st.

Undercover – which has been given a broadcast pilot order at Dave – is a new comedy series written by Sacha Alexander, Simon Dean and Andy Milligan. The project has been described as a ‘spoof’ in the vein of Police Squad and the more recent A Touch of Cloth.  A co-production between Bonafide Films and Steve Coogan’s Baby Cow Productions, Undercover has been in development since 2011 and follows Chris, an undercover police officer who infiltrates an organised crime family. The only problem is that Chris is way out of his depth. He has to complete his assignment and bring down this crime family under the watch of his handler Zoe. But then again, Chris is starting to enjoy being a part of the family, especially given the new found powers they bring him.
