UKTV has today launched a new website for its Eden channel – which has an emphasis on nature and scientific programming. The new website is part of the company’s broader multi-platform strategy for their portfolio of channels (which includes Alibi, Watch, Dave and Really) and will see UKTV redesign all of its websites to increase distribution of content and improve viewers’ engagement with channel brands online. As part of said strategy, UKTV has already launched video-on-demand services for Dave (Dave-On-Demand) and Yesterday (Yesterday-On-Demand), while the on-demand service for Really is slated to launch next month.
The new website for Eden (located at eden.uktv.co.uk) is mobile-optimised with integrated iOS swipe gestures making the website seamlessly feel like an app. The new design for the site (see image above) features photo galleries, email reminders for programmes, an easy to use TV guide and social integration with Twitter and Facebook. Next month will also see the addition of social quizzes, including pop-up infographics, which users will be able to share to Facebook so they can see how they rank against their friends and family.
Speaking of the website re-design for Eden, Oliver Davies, UKTV’s Head of Digital Delivery, said: “This represents the start of an exciting year-long project involving the complete redesign of our 10 channel websites and corporate site. We have launched Eden to look stunning, be easy to use, and social. The cutting-edge web design means the channel can live and breathe in a digital space.”
