The drama series premiered to 3.2 million viewers and a 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demo in live+same day, before suffering a steep ratings decline in week 2 when the show pulled in a mere 2 million total viewers and a 0.7 rating in the 18-49 demo in live+same day. Overall, Beauty and the Beast has been averaging almost 2.5 million viewers and a 0.9 rating in the 18-49 demo in live+same day, with last night’s episode pulling in 1.9 million viewers and a 0.7 A18-49 rating.
The pickup of Beauty and the Beast follows on from the full season pick-up of the network’s breakout hit Arrow. The CW had been expected to pull the trigger on a full season order for Beauty and the Beast given the series’ relative ratings performance and the fact that the network had handed the series an order for additional scripts on October 22nd. Meanwhile, there is no word on the fate of the under-performing medical drama Emily Owens, M.D.
