The UKTV owned Pay TV channel Good Food has given the green-light to a new half hour food series fronted by Valentine Warner. The broadcaster has ordered ten episodes for the first season of Valentine Warner’s Scandinavian Cookbook, which is set to premiere in late 2013.
Produced by Rockabox Media, Valentine Warner’s Scandinavian Cookbook will see host and TV chef Valentine Warner travel across Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden to unearth the hidden food gems of Scandinavia. The series will showcase seasonal variations in the Scandinavian region, examining its increasing popularity in contemporary cookery. Each episode will be set in a different location and will see Valentine cook with the local delicacies and ingredients, as he attempts traditional Scandinavian recipes, alongside more experimental dishes.
Catherine Catton, UKTV’s Senior Commissioning Editor, said: “We’re delighted to be working with Rockabox Media on this series. Valentine Warner’s Scandinavian Cookbook is a great opportunity to bring Scandinavian cooking and ingredients to the forefront of modern cuisine and showcase Valentine’s diverse cookery skills.”
Good Food’s General Manager Clare Laycock commented: “This is an exciting new commission for Good Food. Scandinavian cuisine is fast becoming a big new trend for UK foodies and Valentine – a firm favourite with the Good Food audience – is the perfect person to help us explore it. The series will provide our viewers with the opportunity to experience how to make mouth-watering dishes set against a magnificent Nordic backdrop.”
While Torie Chilcott, Chief Creative Officer at Rockabox Media, added: “We’re very much looking forward to working with Good Food to deliver a fresh and contemporary series, which focuses on both winter and summer cuisine in the Scandinavian region.”
