EXCLUSIVE: FX UK has inked a deal with ZDF Enterprises to acquire the exclusive first run UK broadcast rights to the series of Jack Irish TV Movies. Two movies have been produced for ABC1 in Australia, while another two such movies are currently in the works. I hear that both of the Jack Irish TV Movies (titled Jack Irish: Bad Debts & Jack Irish: Black Tide) are set to premiere on FX UK in December.

Based on the Jack Irish series of novels by Peter Temple, the series of TV movies follows Jack Irish, a man who is just getting his life back together again. A former criminal lawyer whose world imploded, he now spends his days as a part-time investigator, debt collector, apprentice cabinet maker, punter and sometime lover – the complete man really. An expert in finding those who don’t want to be found – dead or alive, Jack helps out his mates while avoiding the past. That is until the past finds him. Jack’s world revolves around the racetrack, the local pub and the artisan woodwork shop where he’s apprenticed himself to a master craftsman. But a phone call from an old client first arouses his curiosity, then preys upon his sense of justice; and sets Jack on a path which he doggedly pursues. From bent cops to identical twin thugs, political leaders to investigative journalists, suddenly everyone seems to want a piece of Jack Irish. The series of movies stars Guy Pearce, Aaron Pedersen, Marta Dusseldorp, Diana Glenn, Don Hany, Shane Jacobson, Roy Billing, Colin Friels, Steve Bisley, Damien Richardson, Alexandra Schepisi, Rhys Muldoon, Martin Sacks, Colin Hay, Emma Booth and Vadim Glowna.
