EXCLUSIVE: Sally Carman (Shameless) has been cast as the new lead in the upcoming second season of BBC One’s drama series Prisoners’ Wives, TVWise has learned exclusively. My sources are telling me that Carman has been cast as Kim Hall, though they fell short of revealing any plot lines for the character. Carman, repped by Shepherd Management, is currently filming the final season of Shameless for Channel 4/Company Pictures and will be replacing Emma Rigby, who played the lead role of Gemma during the first season of Prisoners’ Wives.

Created by Julie Gearey, Prisoners’ Wives follows the lives of a group of women who try to cope after their husbands have been convited of a crime and sent to prison. The drama series, produced by Tiger Aspect Productions, was renewed earlier this year by BBC One for a second season of 4 episodes which is set to air in 2013. The cast for the show’s first season included Emma Rigby, Polly Walker, Pippa Haywood and Natalie Gavin. However, it was recently revealed that Rigby would not be returning for season two. It is unclear if the other cast members will be returning for the new season.
