HBO’s drama series Treme will return for a fourth and final season of 5 episode in 2013, with production due to commence on November 5th. The Network made the announcement on their Facebook page saying: “Strike up the band. Production on the 5-episode final season of Treme begins November 5th.”
Created by David Simon, Treme explores a unique American culture rebuilding after historic devastation, chronicling the life of New Orleans residents in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. The drama series stars Wendell Pierce, Khandi Alexander, Clarke Peters, Rob Brown,Steve Zahn, Kim Dickens, Melissa Leo, Michiel Huisman, Lucia Micarelli, Jon Seda, David Morse and India Ennenga. The show’s ten episode third season is currently airing on HBO on Sunday nights at 10/9c.
Word first leaked out in September that the series was being given a shortened final season. At a screening for Treme in New Orleans series creator David Simon said: “We are going to be back for a season 3.5. HBO, upon viewing the 10 [complete Season 3 episodes] that we gave them, they wanted to see the end of the story. They fought very hard to give us half a loaf. We’re going to take it and run.” However at that time, it was unclear just how many episodes this shortened season would contain.
