E4 Closes Deal To Acquire UK Rights To ‘Happy Endings’ Season 3 – TVWise

EXCLUSIVE: Elisha Cuthbert is returning to E4. I have just learned that Channel 4 has closed a deal with Disney Media Distribution to acquire the exclusive first run UK broadcast rights to the third season of ABC’s comedy series Happy Endings for its E4 channel. I hear that the show’s 22 episode third season is tentatively scheduled to premiere on E4 in Spring 2013.
Happy Endings was created by David Caspe and follows the daily lives of a group of six friends who must adjust after two of them, who were engaged to be married, suddenly break up. The comedy series stars Elisha Cuthbert as Alex Moore, Zachary Knighton as Dave Rose, Eliza Coupe as Jane Williams, Casey Wilson as Penny Hartz, Adam Pally as Max Blum and Damon Wayons Jr as Brad Williams. The series is produced by Sony Pictures Television and ABC Studios with David Caspe, Jamie Tarses, Anthony Russo, Jonathan Groff and Joe Russo serving as executive producers.
This deal signed by Channel 4 is just the latest in a long line of deals that the company has inked over the past few months for US imports. Channel 4 has most recently closed deals with Disney Media Distribution and Lionsgate TV to acquire the exclusive first run rights to Scandal and Nashville, respectively. Additionally, the company has also inked deals with various distributors to acquire the UK rights to the (prospective) third season of Homeland for Channel 4; NBC’s new comedy series The New Normal, MTV’s adaptation of The Inbetweeners, the second and third seasons of New Girl, the second season of 2 Broke Girls, the second season of Revenge, the sixth season of The Big Bang Theory, the fifth season of 90210, the eighth season of How I Met Your Mother, the second season of Don’t Trust The B—- In Apartment 23 and the fourth season of The Cleveland Show for E4; and the the third season of The Big C, the second season of Shameless US and the fourth season of The Good Wife for More4.
