The second season of FX’s comedy series Wilfred will receive its UK premiere on BBC Three on Thursday August 16th at 10pm, it has been announced.
Wilfred is based on the Australian TV series of the same name and was developed for American television by David Zuckerman. The series is about a young man, Ryan (Elijah Wood), struggling unsuccessfully to make his way in the world until he forms a unique friendship with Wilfred (Jason Gann), his neighbor’s pet dog. Everyone else sees Wilfred as just a dog, but Ryan sees a crude and somewhat surly, yet irrepressibly brave and honest Australian bloke in a cheap dog suit.
In the show’s second season, Ryan comes to realise the consequence of not having Wilfred in his life, only to have Wilfred refuse to help Ryan with his problems as a result of his belief that their relationship is one-sided due to Ryan’s selfishness. The querky duo will get up to plenty of trouble as we follow their friendship across the 13 episodes of season two.
