Exclusive: My sources are telling me that UKTV has closed a deal with Disney Media Distribution to pick up the exclusive first run UK pay TV rights to Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior, the short-lived spin-off of CBS’ long running drama series Criminal Minds, for its Alibi channel. I’m also being told that the series will premiere on Alibi in late October.
Created by Chris Mundy and Edward Allen Bernero, Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior follows an elite team of agents within the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) who use unconventional methods of investigation and aggressive tactics to capture the nation’s most nefarious criminals. The drama series only lasted one season (13 episodes) on CBS before being cancelled by the network in 2011 due to lower than expected ratings. Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior stars Forest Whitaker as unit chief Sam Cooper, a mentally and physically fierce natural leader who is not afraid to put his career on the line in order to stand by his convictions; Janeane Garofalo as Beth Griffith, the newest member of the team who joins them from the FBI Threat Assessment Task Force; Michael Kelly as John “Prophet” Sims a former convict with a street-smart edge and a calm zen-like presence who is determined to make amends for past sins, Matt Ryan as Mick Rawson, a former British Special Forces soldier who serves the team as skilled marksman with an undiluted eye for rooting out evil; Beau Garrett as Gina LaSalle an attractive, tough agent armed with a cunning sense of perception; Kirsten Vangsness as Penelope Garcia, a computer wizard who has spent years aiding Agent Hotchner and his BAU team on its toughest cases; and Richard Schiff as FBI Director Jack Fickler.
