Tuesday was a good night for TNT. In Rizzoli & Isles‘ first outing in the Tuesday 9pm time-slot (after airing at 10pm on Monday nights for the past two seasons) the drama series set a new record as basic cable’s #1 Tuesday premiere ever for an original scripted drama series with 5.6 million total viewers, 1.5 million of those viewers in the 18-49 demo (a 1.2 rating) and 1.9 million viewers in the 25-54 demo. The show’s third season premiere was down 12.5% in total viewers, but was steady in the demo, compared to the show’s second season premiere. However, Tuesday’s numbers are more or less level with the averages for the shows second season (5.9 million total viewers/1.1 A18-49 rating) and posted gains of 87% and 57% compared to the second season premiere of Memphis Beat (3 million total viewers/0.7 A18-49 rating) which aired in the same time-slot last season.
Meanwhile, TNT’s legal dramedy Franklin & Bash returned to 3.1 million total viewers, with 1.1 million viers in the 18-49 demo (a 0.9 rating) and 1.2 million viewers in the 25-54 demo. The show’s second season posted gains of 14% in total viewers and was steady in the demo compared to the series launch last summer (2.7 million total viewers/0.9 A18-49 rating). Tuesday night’s ratings were also up 19% in total viewers and 29% in the demo compared to the third season premiere of HawthoRNe (2.6 million total viewers/0.7 A18-49 rating) which aired in the same time-slot last season.
