All four shows will return next season, Don’t Trust The B—- In Apartment 23 for it’s second season, Body of Proof for its third, Last Man Standing for its second and Private Practice will return for a sixth and final season. I hear the episode orders for Don’t Trust The B—- In Apartment 23, Body of Proof and Private Practice are for 13 episodes, while the order for Last Man Standing is for 22.
While Private Practice, Don’t Trust The B—- In Apartment 23 and Last Man Standing had been expected to return, it is the renewal of Body of Proof that is the biggest surprise. The show, which is produced by ABC Studios, averaged 8.6 million total viewers and a 1.7 rating in the 18-49 demo in live+same day across its second season and, as such, was always on the bubble.
Even so, last week, sources at ABC Studios told me they were “cautiously optimistic” that the series would return, as it is a strong international seller for the studio. And, just yesterday I was told that the series was looking good for a renewal, with one source saying that they would bet their 401K on the series returning, while another said odds had gone from 60/40 against to 70/30 in favour.
