USA Network’s newest drama series, Common Law, will premiere on the network on Friday May 11th at 10/9c, it has been announced.

Common Law was created by Cormac and Marianne Wibberly and follows two detectives in the LAPD who, despite their ability to close cases, cannot stand each other. To help keep the two together, their commanding officer orders the two detectives to see a couples therapist. The series stars Michael Ealy (Sleeper Cell, The Good Wife) as Detective Travis Marks, Warren Kole as Detective Wes Mitchell, Jack McGee (Rescue Me) as Captain Phil Sutton and Sonya Walger as Dr Ryan. Twelve episodes have been ordered for the show’s first season, which is currently scheduled to complete its run on USA Network on Friday, August 10th.

This will be the third series to air on USA Network on Friday nights this season, with Fairly Legal and In Plain Sight being the first two shows to assume the Friday night slot since the network stopped airing originals on that night a couple of years ago. The reason for doing so was the “hostile” nature of Friday nights, however with other networks proving that shows can be successful on Fridays (such as CBS’ Blue Bloods), the network decided to return to the night which launched three of their most popular original series: Monk, Psych and White Collar.
