Fox Renews ‘The X-Files’ For Ten Episode Eleventh Season

After months of prolonged negotiations, Fox has officially pulled the trigger and renewed The X-Files for an eleventh season. The network has opted for a longer run for this second revival season, ordering ten episodes, up from the six that comprised season ten. TVWise reported late last year that the increased order was a key objective for senior Fox execs, who were eyeing the new season for a spot of the 2017-2018 schedule.

Fox's President of Entertainment David Madden even went on record to state that, contrary to a recent report in the press, "significant talks" are indeed underway with Chris Carter, David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson about an eleventh season.
