Amazon Prime Video Acquires UK Rights To 'The Walking Dead' Spin-Off – TVWise

The third The Walking Dead series has found a UK home. Amazon Prime Video has secured the UK rights to the as-yet untitled third series that will feature two young female protagonists. The streaming service has also secured rights in “select countries and territories” around the world.
The new spin-off focuses on the first generation to come-of-age in the apocalypse as we know it. Some will become heroes. Some will become villains. In the end, all of them will be changed forever. Grown-up and cemented in their identities, both good and bad.
Cast lined up for the new series includes Aliyah Royale, Alexa Mansour, Annet Mahendru, Nicolas Cantu, Hal Cumpston and Nico Tortorella. AMC Studios are producing. It was co-created by Scott M. Gimple and Matt Negrete. The latter will also serve as showrunner.
While Amazon does hold SVOD rights to both The Walking Dead and Fear The Walking Dead, this marks the first time they’ve secured first window rights to series from the franchise. FOX UK retains first window rights to the original series, while AMC UK hold first window rights to Fear The Walking Dead.
“An exciting and heartfelt survival story that will have our viewers sitting on the edge of their seats, this next series from the world of The Walking Dead will make an excellent addition to the growing catalogue of global event series available to Amazon customers”, said Brad Beale, Vice President of Worldwide Licensing for Amazon Prime Video.
