UKTV’s W channel and Pop TV have set the cast for their co-production Flack.
Sophie Okonedo (Undercover), Marc Warren (The Good Wife), Lydia Wilson (Requiem), Genevieve Angelson (House Of Lies), Rebecca Benson (The White Princess), Arinzé Kene (Crazyhead), Rufus Jones (W1A), Max Beesley (Strike Back) and Rebecca Root (The Danish Girl, Boy Meets Girl) have joined the cast of the six episode Anna Paquin (True Blood) fronted PR drama, TVWise has learned.
Flack follows an American PR executive living in London. Robyn (Paquin) is a sharp and witty publicity maven, who’s an expert at her craft but a complete self-saboteur when it comes to her personal life. The six episode series is set up at Hat Trick Productions, with Jimmy Mulville, Helen Williams and Olover Lansley serving as executive producers. Anna Paquin will also executive produce through her CASM banner alongside Stephen Moyer, Cerise Hallam Larkin and Mark Larkin with Justin Rosenblatt for Pop and Peter Thornton for UKTV.
Sophie Okonedo has been cast as Caroline, Robyn’s boss and head of PR company Mills Paulson; Marc Warren as Tom, a damaged but charming ex-dancer whom Robyn meets through her NA meetings; Lydia Wilson as Eve, Robyn’s foul-mouthed best friend and colleague; Genevieve Angelson as Ruth, Robyn’s sister, confidant and emotional rock; Rebecca Benson as Melody, the new girl in the workplace in her first week as an intern; Arinzé Kene as Robyn’s charming and tolerant boyfriend, Sam; and Rufus Jones as Ruth’s comfortably old-fashioned husband, Mark.
Details on the characters being played by Max Beesly and Rebecca Root were not immediately available. Rounding out the cast is Alan Davies (Jonathan Creek, Whites) Andrew Leung (Doctor Who), Lloyd Everitt (Casualty) Indra Ove (Resident Evil), Tsion Habte (Liar), Rebecca Scroggs (EastEnders), Chu Omambala (Doctor Who), Holli Dempsey (Black Mirror), and Amy Huberman (Striking Out). Production on Flack gets underway next month for a 2019 premiere on W.
