Drama is adding another exclusive acquisition to their line up.

The UKTV owned and operated channel has secured the UK rights to both seasons of Australian media drama The Heart Guy (AKA Doctor Doctor) after striking deal with international distributor FremantleMedia International. The series will premiere on Drama on Thursday April 5th at 9pm.

The Heart Guy follows Doctor Hugh Knight, a rising star in the Sydney heart surgery ranks, who is gifted, charmed, hedonistic and infallible, until his world comes crashing down. The drama series is produced by Easy Tiger with support of Screen Australia and Screen NSW and stars Rodger Corser, Nicole da Silva and Ryan Johnson.

While Drama is primarily home to repeat content, since its launch the channel has aired a select number of first run scripted dramas. They started down that road with The Pinkertons and later picked up such shows as Deadline GallipoliThe Red TentMercy Street, and most recently The White Princess – a follow up to the short-lived BBC One period drama The White Queen. “This is a perfect addition to our growing slate of exciting new and exclusive shows on Drama such as The White Princess and Mercy Street”, said Drama General Manager Emma Ayech. “With gripping story lines set against the beautiful outback scenery, it is sure to be a hit with Drama fans.”
