The second season of The A Word will premiere on BBC One on Tuesday November 7th at 9pm, it has been announced.

The A Word follows the Hughes family who work and love and fight like every other family. Then their youngest son, Joe, is diagnosed with autism and they don’t feel like every other family anymore. The drama series is produced by Fifty Fathoms Productions, Tiger Aspect Productions and Keshet Productions UK and stars Christopher Eccleston, Morven Christie, Lee Ingleby, Greg McHugh, Vinette Robinson and Max Vento.

The show’s second season picks up two years after the first season. Now aged seven, Joe has begun to look at the world and finds that he doesn’t fit in. ‘Autistic’ is a word he has heard but can’t yet understand. ‘Different’ is what he feels, and fears might be something bad. It is up to the whole family to help Joe make sense of who he is and his place in the world. But to do that, they must first be honest about themselves.
