UKTV Unveils Branding For Original Productions

UKTV has unveiled branding for the growing slate of originals productions. UKTV Originals coalesces the multi channel broadcaster’s vast and eclectic array of commissions under a single brand.

The branding (pictured, above) was designed by in-house agency UKTV Creative and, per UKTV, “visualises the process that goes into producing TV shows”. The new branding also features a handcrafted logo (pictured, below) drawn by award-winning hand lettering artist, Alison Carmichael. Everything was filmed and edited at UKTV’s headquarters in Hammersmith across a two-day period. It will appear on screen from Monday September 4th ahead of the first episode of brand-new original series, The Davina Hour.

The design project was briefed by UKTV’s Chief Marketing and Communications Officer Zoë Clapp in recognition of the growing important of originals to the company’s performance. Last year, UKTV invest £150 million in new programming; leading to more originals airing on their plethora of channels than ever before. “The new branding really captures the creative process involved in creating our Original productions, from script writing to set design; storyboarding to editing. Basically, the unsung heroes that are often hidden behind the scenes”, said Peter Allinson, Head of Design at UKTV. “Working with the hugely talented Alison Carmichael provided us with an additional opportunity, to create a beautiful and truly bespoke logo. The result is a confident wordmark that feels crafted and authentic, like a stamp of approval or a signature.”
