Chizzy Akudolu Set For BBC One’s ‘Strictly Come Dancing’

Chizzy Akudolu is the latest celebrity to sign up for the fifteenth season of BBC One’s Strictly Come Dancing. The announcement was made on the official Strictly Come Dancing Twitter and Facebook accounts.

Andrea Chizoba ‘Chizzy’ Akudolu is best-known for playing heart surgeon Mo Effanga on BBC One’s medical drama series Holby City. Chizzy joined the cast in 2012 and hung up her stethoscope this past June after five years.

“When I was 13, I made the finals of a disco dancing competition once but there was this amazing girl who exploded onto the stage with a gorgeous sequined costume, throwing glitter everywhere… I knew it was game over for me”, Chizzy said in a statement, “That was then, this is now and this is my chance to have even more sequins!”

She is the second celebrity contestant confirmed today, after it was revealed this morning that Good Morning Britain’s Charlotte Hawkins would also be competing. Other celebrities lined up for the fifteenth season of the BBC Studios produced series include Brian Conley, Susan Calman, Aston Merrygold, Simon Rimmer, Joe McFadden, Reverend Richard Coles, Gemma Atkinson, Ruth Langsford, Davood Ghadami and Mollie King.
