Mere weeks after the show’s third season launched, Netflix has picked up Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt for a thirteen episode fourth season. The show’s fourth season is expected to launch globally on the streaming service in 2018.
Created by Tina Fey and Robert Carlock, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt tells the story of Kimmy, a woman who is rescued from a doomsday cult and starts life over as a nanny for an Upper East Side socialite in New York City.
The comedy series, which was originally set up at NBC, stars Ellie Kemper, Tituss Burgess, Jane Krakowski and Carol Kane. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is a production of Universal Television, Little Stranger Inc., 3 Arts Entertainment and Bevel Gears for Netflix. The executive producers are Tina Fey, Robert Carlock, Jeff Richmond and David Miner. As with the vast majority of Netflix originals, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt airs on this side of the pond on Netflix UK.
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is the latest Netflix half-hour comedy to score a renewal for another season. Back in April, the streaming service officially pulled the trigger on a fourth season renewal for their first truly original comedy series, Grace & Frankie. Both series join a growing comedy slate at Netflix that includes The Ranch, Santa Clarita Diet, Disjointed and Fuller House, amongst others.
