CBS on Thursday handed out renewals to some thirteen of their scripted series, eleven of which currently have UK homes.
Those eleven series to get the nod for the 2017-2018 broadcast season are: Madam Secretary (Sky Living), NCIS: Los Angeles (Sky1), Kevin Can Wait (E4), Blue Bloods (Sky Atlantic), NCIS: New Orleans (Channel 5), Bull (FOX UK), Mom (ITV2), Life In Pieces (Amazon Prime Video UK), MacGyver (Sky1), Hawaii Five-0 (Sky1) and Scorpion (ITV2).
The network also renewed Matt LeBlanc comedy Man With A Plan and comedy Superior Donuts – though neither of the two series, which are distributed globally by CBS Studios International, presently have UK deals. These 13 shows join both The Big Bang Theory and NCIS, which were previously renewed for next season under separate multi-season pick ups.
While this mass renewal means the vast majority of CBS’s line-up will be back for next season, it still leaves a number of high profile shows on the bubble. Sky Living import Criminal Minds was conspicuously absent from the list of renewals, but is expected to get a 13th season pick up in the coming weeks. Code Black (W), 2 Broke Girls (E4), and Elementary (Sky Living) are firmly on the bubble and their respective fates will be largely determined by the strength of CBS’ pilots when they are delivered in the next six weeks; while Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders (W) has a solid shot at coming back.
