Comedy Central UK Acquires ‘Detroiters’ & TripTank Spin-Off ‘Jeff & Some Aliens’

Comedy Central UK is adding two original series from their U.S. sister network to their line-up. The Viacom backed broadcaster has picked up the exclusive UK rights to TripTank spin-off Jeff & Some Aliens and live-action comedy series Detroiters, TVWise has learned. Both Detroiters and Jeff & Some Aliens are set to premiere on Comedy Central UK early next month.

Detroiters follows Sam and Tim, best friends and small-time ad men in the Motor City. Whatever they do, they do it together. And no matter what happens, Tim and Sam’s love for each other and their city never wavers. The comedy series is produced by Broadway Video Television and stars Sam Richardson and Tim Robinson. Richardson and Robinson created the series alongside Joe Kelly and Zach Kanin. The executive producers are Sam Richardson, Tim Robinson, Joe Kelly, Zach Kanin, Lorne Michaels and Jason Sudeikis.

Jeff & Some Aliens follows Jeff, Earth’s most average guy, and three Azurian aliens, Sammy, Jimmy and Ted who live with him in his shitty one bedroom/one bath apartment. The aliens were sent to Earth to observe the intricate complexities of the human condition, but mostly end up just wreaking havoc on Jeff’s life. The animated series features the voices of Brett Gelman and Alessandro Minoli.

These two acquisitions come mere months after Comedy Central UK also picked up the UK rights to fellow Comedy Central original series Legends Of Chamberlain Heights and TripTank. They join a slate of exclusive acquisitions on the channel that also includes South ParkBob’s BurgersThe MiddleBroad City and Teachers. Notably, the U.S. Comedy Central network just renewed Detroiters for a second season.
