Comedy Central UK Acquires Animated Series ‘Legends Of Chamberlain Heights’ & ‘TripTank’

Two of Comedy Central’s original animated series are crossing the pond.

Comedy Central UK has secured the exclusive first window UK rights to both Legends Of Chamberlain Heights and TripTank, which will be used to form an animated block on Friday Nights later this month, TVWise has learned.

Legends Of Chamberlain Heights follows three high school freshman basketball benchwarmers: Jamal, Grover, and Milk. The three friends tackle life with some wins and some losses, but failure doesn’t faze them since they’re legends; even if it’s just in their own minds. The half-hour series, which has already been renewed for a second season, features the voices of Josiah Johnson and Quinn Hawking.

TripTank is an animated anthology series that showcases a wide range of fast-paced, hard-hitting shorts, weaving together stand-alone and recurring narrative pieces. The series is executive produced by ShadowMachine’s Alex Bulkley and Corey Campodonico and delivers a variety of mind-bending animation styles featuring a broad range of formats including 2D, stop-motion and CGI. Legends Of Chamberlain Heights will premiere on Friday January 27th at 11pm, with TripTank following immediately after at 11:30pm.

This marks the latest deal that Comedy Central UK has struck in recent months for exclusive U.S. scripted content and comes shortly after they acquired the TV Land comedy TeachersLegends Of Chamberlain Heights and TripTank join a slate of such exclusive imports that also includes ABC’s long-running blue-collar comedy The Middle and Fox’s animated half-hour series Bob’s Burgers.

It worth noting that while Legends Of Chamberlain Heights and TripTank are the latest of Comedy Central’s original series to cross the pond – joining the likes of South ParkWorkaholics and Broad City – landing a spot on Comedy Central UK’s schedule was not a fait accompli. “We don’t have a formal arrangement with our U.S. network, so every programming decision is very much on a case-by-case basis”, Brad Wood, Director of Acquisitions for Comedy Central UK and MTV UK, previously told TVWise.
