Maigret’s Dead Man – the second film in the new series of Maigret adaptations – will premiere on ITV on Christmas Day (Sunday December 25th) at 9pm, it has been announced.
Based on the works of Georges Simenon, Maigret follows Jules Maigret, a legendary French detective, who is described as “magnificently measured and insightful”. Adapted by Stewart Harcourt, the films are produced by Thompson & Thompson Productions Ltd and Georges Simenon Limited and star Rowan Atkinson as Maigret. A further two adaptations, once again penned by Harcourt, have already been commissioned for 2017.
In Maigret’s Dead Man a series of vicious, murderous attacks on three wealthy farms in Picardy hit the national headlines and the elite Brigade Criminelle at the Quay Des Orfevres is called upon to lend its expertise in tracking down the brutal gang responsible for the slaughter. However, Maigret is resolute in investigating the murder of an obscure anonymous Parisian. Guest stars include Ian Puleston-Davies, Aiden McCardle, Shaun Dingwall, Lucy Cohu, Leo Starr and Hugh Simon.
