Amazon Prime Video’s original series Sneaky Pete will premiere on Friday January 13th, when the show’s first season will be available to stream.
“We’re excited that 2017 will be starting with Sneaky Pete, an inside look at the world of con artists,” said Joe Lewis, Head of Comedy and Drama, Amazon Studios. “The remarkable cast, led by Giovanni Ribisi, and innovative producers Bryan Cranston and Graham Yost have made a fantastic series that we’re excited to bring to customers.”
From Bryan Cranston and Davis Shore, Sneaky Pete follows a con-man (Giovanni Ribisi) who, after leaving prison, takes cover from his past by assuming the identity of his cellmate, Pete. He moves in with Pete’s unsuspecting family and is roped into the family’s bail bond business. In order to keep the charade up, he plays the part of a skip tracer, taking down criminals worse than himself—and discovering a family life he’s never had. Bryan Cranston, Marin Ireland, Margo Martindale, Peter Gerety, Libe Barer and Shane McRae also star.
The drama series was initially set up at CBS, where it narrowly missed a series order for the 2015-2016 season. Soon after, it was laid off at Amazon, who released the pilot in August 2015 under their “egalitarian” model, which allows Prime subscribers to vote on which projects should go to series; before ultimately picking up a ten episode first season last November. Amazon Studios co-produces with Sony Pictures Television. The executive producers are Shore, Cranston, Erin Gunn and James Degus.
