Some 24 hours before the show’s third season is set to premiere, UKTV’s Dave channel has picked up Taskmaster for a fourth and fifth season. The order for these two seasons has been set at eight episodes, up from the five episode orders the show’s first three seasons.
Taskmaster sees Greg Davies, assisted by Alex Horne, assigning tasks to a group of well-known comedians to show their creativity, conniving and competitiveness, before he ultimately decides who wins.
The series, which was devised by Horne, is produced by Avalon Television. The executive producers are Alex Horne, Richard Allen-Turner, Rob Aslett, James Taylor, Jon Thoday, Andy Devonshire and Hilary Rosen. Series director Andy Devonshire also serves as an executive producer.
“As the Taskmaster’s personal secretary and trainer I have been instructed to state that we’re both satisfied that a total of ten apparently intelligent comedians will be doing more stupid things stupidly for Mr Davies”, said Alex Horne. “The Taskmaster has even bought me a caravan so this time I will be constantly on site to watch the desperate attempts and report back, before he ignores me and judges them.”
“Taskmaster just keeps getting bigger and better, I look forward to seeing what fresh hell Greg and Alex bring to the new unsuspecting contestants”, added Dave General Manager Steve North. “It’s fantastic that we have built a show on Dave which has generated such a brilliant fanbase and viewers are genuinely excited to see what tasks Alex Horne’s genius mind comes up with every episode.”
