Netflix’s next Marvel original series Iron Fist will premiere globally on the streaming service on Friday March 17th, TVWise has learned.
Marvel’s Iron Fist follows billionaire Danny Rand, who returns to New York City after being missing for years, trying to reconnect with his past and his family legacy. He fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist.
The thirteen episode series is produced by Marvel Television & ABC Studios and stars Finn Jones (Game Of Thrones), Jessica Henwick (Fortitude), David Wenham (Banished), Jessica Stroup (The Following) and Tom Pelphrey (Banshee). Six Feet Under and Dexter scribe Scott Buck developed Iron Fist and serves as showrunner and executive producer. Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s Head of Television also serves as an executive producer.
Iron Fist is the fourth series to emanate from the so-called “bumper” deal between Netflix and Marvel for four original dramas (Marvel’s Daredevil, Marvel’s Jessica Jones, Marvel’s Luke Cage and Marvel’s Iron Fist) and a miniseries, known as The Defenders, which would tie the four series together. Based on the success of this pact, a fifth project, Marvel’s The Punisher, starring Jon Bernthal, has also been green-lit.
In addition to announcing the release date, Netflix has also released first look teaser image for Iron Fist. Check it out below:
