Netflix has announced that their take on Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events will premiere globally on Friday January 13th.
Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events recounts the tragic tale of the Baudelaire orphans — Violet, Klaus, and Sunny – whose evil guardian Count Olaf will stop at nothing to get his hands on their inheritance. The siblings must outsmart Olaf at every turn, foiling his many devious plans and disguises, in order to discover clues to their parents’ mysterious death.
Described as an eight episode family series, the project has been in the works since as far back as December 2014, when the streaming service landed the rights to the book series by Lemony Snicket (the pen name of Daniel Handler). It is produced in-house by Netflix Orginals and stars Neil Patrick Harris, Patrick Warburton, Joan Cusack, Malina Weissman and Louis Hynes.
In addition to announcing the premiere date, Netflix has also released a trailer and teaser image from Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events, which can been seen below:
