Killian Scott Set As Lead In USA Network Pilot 'Damnation' – TVWise

Irish actor Killian Scott (Love/Hate, Ripper Street) has been set as the lead in Damnation, USA Network’s hour-long drama pilot from Longmire scribe Tony Tost.
Described as an epic saga of the secret history of the 1930s American heartland, Damnation follows Seth Davenport, a man masquerading as a small town Iowa preacher in the hopes of starting a full-blown insurrection against the status quo. Focused on his mission, he is unaware that an industrialist tycoon has hired a professional strikebreaker named Creeley Turner to stop the uprising by any means necessary. But unbeknownst to those around them, these two men already share a secret bloody past.
Killian Scott will play lead character Seth Davenport. He succeeds Rectify star Aden Young who was originally cast as the lead, but departed at the end of last month due to “creative differences”. Production on the pilot began earlier this month and, per Deadline, Scott started filming on Tuesday. The actor, repped by Troika Talent and Management 360, has previouslt starred in such TV series as Siblings and Call The Midwife, as well as TV3’s series of Jack Taylor movies starring Iain Glen.
Tony Tost, who got his break as a writer on the A&E turned Netflix series Longmire, created the drama and penned the script for the pilot. USA’s sister studio Universal Cable Productions are producing, with Tony Tost, James Mangold, Guymon Casady and Daniel Rappaport serving as the executive producers. “Tony’s script captures a period of American history with many of the same conflicts that we are still facing today”, said Bill McGoldrick, Executive Vice-President of NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment’s Scripted Content Group. “We are thrilled to collaborate with Universal Cable Productions, James Mangold, and Entertainment 360 on this powerful and ambitious historical drama.”
