ITV’s new three-part drama series HIM will premiere on Wednesday October 19th at 9pm, it has been announced.
HIM follows a 17-year-old boy, (known as HIM) who is caught in the limbo between childhood and adulthood. But he’s also trapped in a limbo between the two homes of his divorced parents, each now remarried with new families. Like any teenager, he is riding a rollercoaster of confusing emotions and finds it hard to process his feelings so tends to “act out”.
But his behaviour is also triggered by something else. He is engaged in a primal struggle to contain the terrifying secret of a supernatural power he inherited from his grandfather. When his 17-year-old stepsister Faith moves into the family home, HIM finds himself irrevocably drawn to her. The turmoil this causes in HIM escalates out of control and with it his supernatural power – and those closest to him are in his line of fire.
The three-parter was created by The Politician’s Husband scribe Paula Milne and was produced for ITV by Mainstreet Pictures, the indie set up by former ITV drama execs Laura Mackie and Sally Haynes. The cast includes Fionn Whitehead, Katherine Kelly, James Murray, Patrick Robinson, Lucy Liemann and Simona Brown. The executive producers are Laura Mackie and Sally Haynes. Andy De Emmony is the director.
