HBO and Keshet International are teaming up for an as-yet untitled drama series about the disappearance of three Israeli teens, TVWise has learned.
“We’re excited to work with Keshet and this extremely talented and creative group led by Hagai Levi”, said HBO’s President of Programming Casey Bloys. “We look forward to sharing this important story with our subscribers.”
Based on actual events, the series follows an idealistic investigator for the Shin Bet (the Israeli equivalent of the FBI) as he deals with the ramifications of violent reactions to the disappearance of three Israeli teens during the summer of 2014. A new command position thrusts him into a confrontation that undermines his faith and worldview, leading to a dramatic conflict between his values and the actions of those closest to him.
HBO has handed out a ten episode order to the project, which is set up as a co-production between HBO Originals and Keshet International’s Keshet Studios. It was created and is being penned by Hagai Levi and Noah Stollman and will be primarily directed by Israeli filmmaker Joseph Cedar. Movie Plus will produce, while Keshet International will handle global sales. The executive producers are Hagai Levi, Avi Nir, Alon Shtruzman, Karni Ziv, Peter Traugott, Rachel Kaplan, Noah Stollman, Michael Lombardo and Joseph Cedar.
“We are thrilled to partner with HBO, the ultimate quality TV powerhouse, and to bring together Israel’s finest in TV and film, led by Hagai Levi, Noah Stollman and Joseph Cedar”, said Keshet Media Group CEO Avi Nir, who serves as an executive producer on the project. “We are all ready for the challenging journey on which this extraordinary story will take us.”
