And the title for the Good Wife spin-off is… The Good Fight.
CBS just announced the title for the new series as production on the ten episode first season is getting underway in New York City for a February 2017 premiere on the network, before it moves to streaming service CBS All Access for the remainder of its run.
The Good Fight picks up one year after the events of the final broadcast episode of “The Good Wife.” In the new series, an enormous financial scam has destroyed the reputation of a young lawyer, Maia, while simultaneously wiping out her mentor Diane Lockhart’s savings. Forced out of Lockhart & Lee, they join Lucca Quinn at one of Chicago’s pre-eminent law firms.
Original series stars Christine Baranski, Cush Jumbo and Sarah Steele are reprising their role as Diane Lockhart, Lucca Quinn and Marissa Gold, respectively. The main cast also includes Delroy Lindo, Rose Leslie, Paul Guilfoyle and Bernadette Peters. CBS has also just announced that Justified star Erica Tazel (pictured, left) is joining the cast as a series regular.
Robert and Michelle King co-created The Good Fight and return as showrunners. The will also executive produce alongside Ridley Scott, David Zucker, Liz Glotzer, Brooke Kennedy and Alison Cross. CBS Television Studios are producing in association with Scott Free Productions and King Size Productions. Executive Producer Brooke Kennedy is directing the premiere episode. CBS Studios International is handling global sales.
