ABC’s critically acclaimed comedy series Black-ish will receive its UK premiere on E4 on Monday October 17th at 7:30pm and will then continue to air on weekdays in that same time-slot, it has been announced.
Created Kenya Barris, Black-ish follows an upper-middle class black man who struggles to raise his children with a sense of cultural identity despite constant contradictions and obstacles. The comedy is produced by ABC Studios and stars Anthony Anderson, Tracee Ellis Ross, Yara Shahidi, Miles Brown, Marcus Scribner, Caila Martin and Laurence Fishburne.
In the pilot episode, Dre (Anthony Anderson), an advertising exec, is happily anticipating a promotion at work, which would make him the firm’s first African American senior vice president. Rainbow (Tracee Ellis Ross), an anesthesiologist, is looking forward to Dre’s raise. Meanwhile, Andre Jr. (Marcus Scribner) makes an announcement — he’s converting to Judaism so he can have a Bar Mitzvah, like all his friends.
