CBS is teaming up with Star Trek director Justin Lin and executive producer Alex Kurtzman for A Burglar In The City, which is described as a modern take on the Robin Hood legend, TVWise has learned.
The project, which has received a substantial put pilot commitment, follows a team of modern-day Robin Hoods who are led by a brilliant architect with a troubled past. They use their unique skills to gain access to any stronghold in order to steal from rich criminals and give to those that have been wronged by a corrupt system.
Scorpion scribe Paul Grellong is penning the script for the pilot, which has been set up at CBS’ sister studio CBS Television Studios. Alex Kurtzman’s Secret Hideout, who recently inked a new overall deal with the studio, is also producing, with Kurtzman and the company’s Heather Kadin executive producing alongside Grellong, Justin Lin and Danielle Woodrow. Lin is also attached to helm the pilot.
This is the first major sale for Secret Hideout since the company launched last month, when Kurtzman split from long-time producing partner Roberto Orci. Kurtzman’s banner has one other project in the works with CBS Television Studios in the form of CBS All Access’ Star Trek Discovery. Both Kurtzman and Heather Kadin serve as executive producers on that show, which is being run by Bryan Fuller.
