Tobias Menzies Set As Lead In AMC’s ‘The Terror’

Tobias MenziesTobias Menzies (Outlander) has been set as one of the leads in The Terror, AMC’s ten episode anthology drama based on the novel by Dan Simmons.

Picked up straight-to-series, The Terror is set in 1847, when a Royal Naval expedition crew searching for the Northwest Passage is attacked by a mysterious predator that stalks the ships and their crew in a suspenseful and desperate game of survival.

Exact character details are being kept under wraps, though it is believed that Menzies will be playing an officer in the Royal Navy. Deadline was first to report the news. This is the latest TV role for Menzies, whose numerous previous small screen scredits include OutlanderPuppy LoveGame Of Thrones and the BBC miniseries The Night Manager, which was co-produced by AMC.

The series is based on Simmons novel and was developed for television by David Kajganich, who serves as co-showrunner alongside Soo Hugh. AMC Studios, Scott Free, Emjag Productions and Entertainment 360 are producing. The executive producers are Ridley Scott, David W. Zucker, Alexandra Milchan, Scott Lambert and Guymon Casady.
